Some tombs should never be opened…

Fluorine uranium carbon potassium. Jane’s experiment really went wrong this time. After a fatal accident, teen scientist Jane becomes the first modern-day…mummy. Waking up in the Egyptian underworld without a heart certainly isn’t the best—especially when it means Anubis, god of embalming, has to devour her soul. Yuck. But when Jane meets the drop-dead gorgeous god, suddenly she’s thinking this might not be the worst thing to happen. And then she is pushed to do the impossible—just time-travel and kill King Tut. Well, every experiment has variables which can end in disaster… Jane just wishes she could decide whether she wants to strangle Anubis or kiss him.

REVIEW:

“You only see beauty because you know it will end,” he says. “No one mourns a midday sun, but a setting sun has a finality to it. It makes you realize you don’t want it to end.”

Jane Unwrapped was a huge surprise.I admit that I never thought I will like it so much. So much that I was itching to stalk the authors immediately after finishing the book and demand a sequel. Self Control is totally needed. Jane Unwrapped is hard to fit into one genre because it has a little bit of everything. And it’s amazing how instead of a giant mess because of all the genres combined, Leah and Kate Rooper made the book into a masterpiece! But why read Jane Unwrapped?

First, because of the whole plot. The mythology and its modern take. Thanks to author Rick Riordan, I’m pretty much obsessed right now with mythology whether its greek or roman or in this case, Egyptian. I’m really fascinated with the rich tale and colorful characters. Leah and Kate did an incredible job in weaving the whole story. I was instantly sucked in from the first chapter and my eyes are glued until the end.

Leah and Kate Rooper’s characters are all memorable. Their own twist with the original myth characters are just right and great. The heroine, Jane, is someone you’ll be rooting for and will end up admiring. A flawed character that will grow up a lot and has an enjoyable monologue. Anubis was amazing! He’s all layers and concealed feelings and I enjoyed every chapter when the authors reveals something about him.

The romance was all kinds of sweet and cute. The chemistry between the two main leads was unmistakable! The authors did not do the usual Instalove thing but that just made the pair more likeable and worth shipping. They were explosives together and couldn’t be more perfect for each other.

Overall, I can say that Jane Unwrapped is definitely one of the best book ever written this year. This page turner will absolutely make you demand for more and will leave you satisfied! Fresh and vibrant characters with a fast paced plot that is full of intrigue, Jane Unwrapped is not a book that you want to miss!

Gramps always said that when the crickets were quiet, something bad was coming. And the crickets have been as silent as the dead. It started with the murdered deer in the playground with the unmistakable purple of a foxglove in its mouth. But in the dying boondock town of Emerald Cove, life goes on.
I work at Gramps’s diner, and the cakes―the entitled rich kids who vacation here―make our lives hell. My best friend, Alex Pace, is the one person who gets me. Only Alex has changed. He’s almost like a stranger now. I can’t figure it out…or why I’m having distinctly more-than-friend feelings for him. Ones I shouldn’t be having.
Then one of the cakes disappears.
When she turns up murdered, a foxglove in her mouth, a rumor goes around that Alex was the last person seen with her—and everyone but me believes it. Well, everyone except my worst enemy, Jenika Shaw. When Alex goes missing, it’s up to us to prove his innocence and uncover the true killer. But the truth will shatter everything I’ve ever known about myself — and Alex.

EXCERPT:

“Miserable people are gonna find misery, Angela,” Gramps said to her.
“There’s no point in rolling over and playing dead.” He nodded at me. “Tell that boy to go stick it and be done with it.”
Dad.” Mom pulled the jaw clip from her bun, letting her dark hair unravel down her back. “If you had your way, this would be a saloon.”
Gramps poured pancake batter into a pan and shrugged.
“What’s wrong with that?
“I could wear my wooly chaps.”
Mom rolled her eyes at me. “I thought I burned those.”

The Good Girl Vs. The Player
Round one begins…

Trina Clemons needed the money. Why else would she – the most organized, prepared student in school – spend the summer as a nanny and partner with the biggest slacker ever? Now she’s ready to tackle nannyhood with her big binder of research and schedules. Just don’t ask her about the secret job of “fixing” the bad habits of a certain high school player…

Slade Edmunds prefers easy hook-ups, and Trina is definitely not his type. She’s all structure and rules, while Slade wants to just have fun. Fortunately, Trina has no idea about the bet Slade made with his best friend that he can totally get her to unwind by the end of summer…

Then the weirdest thing happens. There’s chemistry. A lot of it.
But nothing gets between a boy and a girl like a big, fat secret…

REVIEW:

“Spontaneity isn’t bad. It might even be… epic”

I should’ve known that I’ll finish this in one sitting. …………and that I will swoon like crazy.

description

Entangled Crush can can do no wrong in my book. And Playing the Player is an evidence to that. Get ready girls, Slade is about to intrude your very organized life…. by distracting you with his not-so-good clothing style and irresistible charm. No one can be immune! Trina can attest to that.

I have been a fan Lisa Brown Roberts ever since I read How (Not) To Fall In Love. After reading that book, I was so sure that there’ll be amazing books ahead from Roberts that’s why I was ecstatic when I found out about Playing the Player and let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all. In fact, it exceeded my expectations!!

Trina is another heroine you’ll admire! With her pixie fairy vibe and super uptight trait, you’d she would be annoying but nooooooo. I can’t help but admire her whole personality, I loved her even more because of her character development that you will totally see throughout the story. She’ll go from the neat freak girl to the girl who loves spontaneity. And how did that happen? Well, with the help of our hero of course! Oh man, Slade!! SLADE PEOPLE, SLADE! You know my favorite thing about this book? Is that the love interest isn’t cliche so he’s not your usual dark any broody mysterious hero. Everybody needs a break from that, right? Slade is obnoxious, a charm inducer and a swoony stud wrapped in a very bad clothing ensemble. And yes, you will still LOVE him to pieces.

The friendship between Slade and Alex, who is gay, is very adorable. Alex was such a delight to read even though he caused some trouble between my OTP. It’s incredible how Roberts inserted a very little diversity in the story and yet, the impact was huge. The friendship is one of the huge reason why this book is different from others. Even the kids that Slade and Trina are nanny-ing didn’t fail to crack me up. They add more cuteness to the already swoon worthy love story of their nannies.

I just wished that Trina and Slade had more moments together as a couple though, but other than that, I have no more problem with the book.

You will laugh, you will sigh and you will swoon. Playing the Player will play with your emotions… and you will love every moment of it because Slade and Trina are worth it. Roberts did it again! With characters that you will fall for, romance and friendships that you’ll swoon over, Playing the Player absolutely deserves your attention!

Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn’t recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off her eyebrows and penciling them in for an entire school year. This and other painful memories inspire her to write books in which girls big on wit and heart earn happy endings with swoony guys…eventually. Her almost forever home is Colorado, though she occasionally pines for the days when she lived within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. Her house is full of books, boys, four-legged prima donnas, and lots of laughter.

The hometown hockey hero won’t know what hit him…

Karen Webber is in small-town hell. After her mother’s death, she moved to Corrigan Falls to live with strangers—her dad and his perfect, shiny new family—and there doesn’t seem to be room for a city girl with a chip on her shoulder. The only person who makes her feel like a real human being is Tyler MacDonald.

But Karen isn’t interested in starting something with a player. And that’s all she keeps hearing about Tyler.

Corrigan Falls is a hockey town, and Tyler’s the star player. But the viselike pressure from his father and his agent are sending him dangerously close to the edge. All people see is hockey—except Karen. Now they’ve managed to find something in each other that they both desperately need. And for the first time, Tyler is playing for keeps…

REVIEW:

Paula

I just want to pick up this book and rain kisses all over it and then hug it to death! Hug it till Tyler comes out, maybe? Getting tired of the YA cliches? This isn’t your usual bad boy liked good girl love story. NOPE. Ready your hearts, ready your feels, because Tyler and Karen is about to blow your hearts into swoonfest!

Let’s get over to the characters, which is one of the brilliance in this story. From the first chapter, it already got me emotional. I don’t know if maybe because I can relate so much with what Karen is going through but I swear, the way Cate Cameron wrote Karens POV gutted me. And I’m not the emotional type, so that’s really saying something. Cameron’s writing is vivid, she will not simply tell you what her characters are feeling, she wants you to feel it… inside of you.. probably for a long time. Karen isn’t the shy type or the perky type, she isn’t suicidal either. She’s angry. She’s not acting out by sleeping with different boys or drinking herself to oblivion.. nope. She turns her anger and sadness to silence. And that my friends, is the most painful thing you can do. Shut down yourself… I can’t even imagine. That’s why Karen is such an admirable character for me because, sure, she was bitter and angry at first, but the character development was superb. Well done and just plain brilliant.

Now, Tyler a.k.a the guy who stole my heart from the first chapter. He is so REFRESHING to read.

So tired of the dark and broody guys? Well, here is Tyler. I DO NOT SHARE, but if we’re friends, I MIGHT CONSIDER. Cate wrote his love interest in the best adorable way. He is so clueless about some things (*cough* relationship) I just want to pinch his cheeks! This is the first time a hot love interest makes me want to pinch his cheeks. I’m telling you guys, Tyler has a different power over the readers. BEWARE. This guy is so far from perfect, okay? Cut him some slack. He’s perfectly flawed and for that, I LURVE HIM. He underwent to a major character development as well.

The way Cameron constructed this love story was incredible! There’s no insta love! Not even insta lust. Yes, you better believe it. They went to a fun and simple friendship to a to-die-for connection. So yes, I can assure you that the romance of Center Ice is something to swoon over or be jealous about, BUT this story, IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. Center Ice also deals with relationship within the family. Do you really have to be related in blood to be a part of a family?

If from my review you didn’t get that YES I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH reaction, then I’m a failure. Because that’s what this review is all about. Just me gushing and convincing you guys to gush with me. I WANT MORE and I think I’m gonna get it because there will be a second book!!! Now, if somebody’s looking for me, I’ll wait right here and calm my heart.

BLURB FROM GOODREADS:

This good girl’s about to meet her match…

Ryder Brooks is living the dream—he’s famous, loved by millions of girls, and miserable. All he really wants is to write his own music, not Seconds to Juliet’s sugary sweet pop. In order to do that, though, the “bad boy” of the band will have to play by the rules. And that includes behaving with his new—and super cute—über-good-girl tutor.

Mia Reyes is in fangirl heaven. Tutoring her favorite member of her favorite band? It’s a dream come true…until it turns into a complete nightmare. Ryder is nothing like she thought. He’s crude, arrogant, and pretty much a total jerk. And the worst part? She’s roped into pretending to be his girlfriend so that no one finds out he’s being tutored. Fake kisses, plenty of PDA, and even sharing his hotel room…

But sometimes even the baddest of bad boys needs a little redemption.

Welcome to my stop for the Mia and the Bad Boy tour!! If you remember, I gushed about the first book in this series. Remember? When I introduced Seconds to Juliet to you guys? Well, the bad boy is here. And he just melted my heart!!

REVIEW:

Paula

You swooned over Miles. Now ready your hearts… because Ryder is about to steal it. Turns out, our bad boy is not so bad after all. When does fake becomes real? Hearts gets tested, secrets were revealed but the swoonfest continues!

I love how Ryder isn’t what you really see and there’s so much more from him. I enjoyed every moment of getting to know Ryder and his past and his road to redemption was so hilarious and heartfelt! His whole persona was really mysterious from the first book and its incredible how readers still demanded more of Ryder even though we already have him bared and out in the world. There’s just something about him that we couldn’t get enough of.

Mia.., Mia is incredible! She can be innocent and shy, but she’s also sassy and can be feisty when she needs to be. I actually adore how she’s not hot and cold in here, And that she takes no crap from anyone. Her heart is big and the story tells us that she is the one to teach our Ryder, but along the way, she learned a lot as well. Her character development was something I really celebrated because from the start, I can really see her potential and I was so glad that she made it. That she achieved it. And surprise surprise, Ryder is the one who helped her realize that potential.

The romance was intense, perfect paced and very sweet, Lisa Burstein really captured that classic we-cant-but-we-should kind of romance. It was not annoying or irritating but instead, you’ll find yourself totally caught up in Ryder and Mia’s story. You can’t help but root for them too. There was an actual chemistry between these two and you will feel it oozing from every chapter they’re together.

Although I wished Ryder’s family was dealt and discussed more, I was satisfied by that knee buckling ending. It was every teenager’s dream. Ryder sure knows how to make a statement. And you want a bonus? You got it! Miles and Ryder had a very heart touching moment in here and it was everything I was hoping for, It was hilarious and the bromance was off the charts. I loved it!

All in all, Mia and the Bad Boy is another success in this incredible on going series. I couldn’t wait for more from the boys! This book has a perfect amount of drama you want. With music and hot boys in the mix, Mia and the Bad Boy is another book you can’t resist.
